Whilst Tim Ireland et al weep for the volunteer Iraqi interperters and want to give them a fast track asylum to the UK, consider, if only for a moment, the plight of Iraq’s women.
Now, my question to Mr Ireland and Co, should we offer all Iraqi citizens UK asylum, giving them the best tower block in Glasgow and a custard cream to make it all better, or should we sort out what we started and vow to make Iraq a place of safety and freedom for everybody? I know you want the war to end, Tim: we all do. The difference is, I do not want us to leave Iraqi women to the wolves, like we did when we left the Marsh Arabs to “fend for themselves”. It’s not right to selectively save a few interperters and leave everyone else high and dry..
BTW Tim & Co, given your strength of feeling in support of the proposition that we make special arrangements for Iraqis whose loyal services have put their lives at risk, please will you now offer the same support to the serving US/UK soldiers who do the same? I’d love it if you would kindly prepare a video simplifying the case for proper treatment of our veterans and families.

There is compelling evidence to suggest that these people are in imminent danger, and I have never shied away from genuinely supporting the troops.
(PS: Next time you post an open letter, please remember that it’s generally polite to send a copy to the main recipient *just* in case he doesn’t read your weblog every day. Or at all.)

Dear Tim
I don’t think I’ll be taking deportment lessons from you!
Turning to what substance there is in your post, I don’t dispute that “these people” (as you call them) are in imminent danger, so are lots of people.
Have a nice day.

Heh. Aren’t you the charmer?

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you.
If you’ve got something of substance to say, Tim, I’m sure we would all be delighted to hear it.
If, on the other hand, and as you have indicated with your responses above, the best you can do is to get your knickers in a twist over a perceived slight, you might as well just stay at home.
