The Police Family

American (and many British) friends will not understand what the Metropolitan Police mean when they speak about “the police family”. Along with Police Constables (PC) and the higher ranks, there are Police Community Support Officers.

With the Met busy stretched to the limit foiling Islamo-terror plots along with your run of the mill murder and theft, Nu-Labour created PCSOs to “support” PCs.

Don’t get me wrong. PCSOs are great people, but they’ve got a problem. Armed with a stab-vest, torch (flashlight), ballpoint-pen and only civilian powers of arrest, PCSOs can do fuck-all squared to assist PCs when the shit hits the fan. Nevertheless, Nu-labour continue to think they are a brilliant idea as they “build better relations with the local community and combat anti-social behaviour”. Hummmmmm.

Herewith “PCSO Lesland Amatoe” making the rounds on Stoke Newington Church Street. lol. “Lesland”. Geddit?

that’s gotta be a comedy satire TV show. I refuse to believe the PCs are that desparate to hire some dork that harrasses the citizens of Stoke on a daily basis. I reminded me of Inspector Clouseau!

Tell me it ain’t so, kris

  2. PC Bitseach Says:

Gawfer, the Stoke Newington organic cops don’t wear uniforms…

    It’s satire – but it’s funny, because it’s true.

  3. Gawfer Says:

    Whew!

That’s good to know. In this crazy world of islam, one might think it true.

Now, if we can convince you PC’s to wear side arms again, the need for Stab-vests might be eliminated… or at least minimized. It’s amazing how convincing the business end of a .45 cal auto can be :)

  4. Just John Says:

I’m reminded of the rare folks in the states that are dependent on the coppers. Poor bastards.

The coppers are great at documenting what happened to you when they were not around. Other than that, they aren’t much good.

  5. PCSO Bloggs Says:

It’s not true at all, this is a fake and he’s actually comitting an offence by doing this, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Most of us do a bloody good job with the powers avalible to us.

  6. Kris Says:

Enlighten me Bloggs, which offence with your limited powers of arrest do you plan to do him for?

    You have a choice:

    (1) look again at s90 of the Police Act 1996 and wake up to the fact that PCSOs are not “police” and in any event there is obviously no specific intent to deceive; and/or

    (2) just get a sense of humour.

  7. PCSO Bloggs Says:

There are three offences against designated staff, which apply to PCSOs. The Police Reform Act 2002 section 46 sets out the offences in detail. They are:

    · Assaulting a designated person in the execution of their duty,

    · Resisting or wilfully obstructing a designated person in the execution of their duty and

    · Impersonating a designated person.

Also, i can post a thousand links to positive news stories…it means nothing. There are good and bad in ever role.
